PhD/MPhil Positions in Water Resources Engineering and Management
Position: 2 PhD and 2 MPhil positions in Water Resources Engineering and Management
Start Date: January 2025
Project: Climate Change Footprint on Hydro-Ecological Systems of the Volta Basin (HES-VOLTA)
Â
Background
The Regional Water and Environmental Sanitation Centre Kumasi (RWESCK) is a World Bank Africa Centre of Excellence at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). Its mission is to advance high-quality human resource capital for the water and sanitation sector in Ghana and the subregion to address development challenges in Africa.
RWESCK and its consortium members are implementing the AUDA-NEPAD African Network of Centres of Excellence on Water Sciences and Technology, Phase III (ACEWATER III) project with support from the European Union.
As part of this project, RWESCK seeks to recruit highly motivated PhD (2 positions) and MPhil (2 positions) candidates to join its research team to work on climate change footprint on hydro-ecological systems within the Volta River Basin (HES-VOLTA). This research project focuses on three interconnected themes:
Theme 1 (Hydrological Dynamics of the Volta Basin): Understanding the hydrological processes and responses to climate change in the Volta Basin.
Theme 2 (Groundwater Ecosystem): Examining the impacts of climate change on groundwater resources and ecosystems using isotope hydrology.
Theme 3 (Livelihood Sustenance Strategies): Investigating the effects of climate change on livelihoods and developing sustainable strategies for communities in the Volta Basin.
