As the Center Director of the Regional Water and Environmental Sanitation Centre Kumasi (RWESCK) at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), it is my pleasure to welcome you to our dedicated portal. RWESCK, established under the Department of Civil Engineering, is an Africa Centre of Excellence with a core mission to elevate research and education in water and environmental sanitation across Ghana and West Africa.
At RWESCK, we are driven by the vision to build a sustainable future through significant advancements in water resources management and environmental sanitation. Our objectives are ambitious yet critical: to develop state-of-the-art facilities for postgraduate education, to initiate innovative MSc and PhD programmes, and to foster a robust environment for groundbreaking research.
Our commitment extends beyond academia into real-world impact. We aim to address some of the most pressing challenges of our times—ensuring sustainable access to safe water, coping with climate change, and enhancing food and energy security. Through strategic partnerships with national and regional entities, we are enhancing our capacity to train the necessary manpower to tackle these developmental challenges. Our collaborations range from local industry to international academia, including notable partnerships with institutions like AgroParisTech and support from entities such as the French Embassy in Ghana.
The support from the World Bank has been instrumental, enabling us to mobilize significant funding to achieve our goals. Our initiatives are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, reflecting our commitment to regional and global standards.
