The Regional Water and Environmental Sanitation Centre welcomed the second batch of Masters students (both local and international) on Friday, August 19, 2016.  At a meeting held at the College of Engineering, students were given first hand insights on the M.Sc. programme structure which includes but not limited to course work, master plan, internships, fieldtrips and dissertation.

RWESCK successfully delivered a short course on Basic Skills in GIS and Remote Sensing for Environmental and Engineering Practice. The course which was delivered by Dr. Kwaku Amaning Adjei of the Civil Engineering Department offered participants hands-on experience on the use of the GIS tool and its application in Engineering practice. Participants were from diverse professional backgrounds; Researchers, Consultants, Engineers, Development planners, WaSH specialists and Waste Management experts

It is announced to all applicants who were offered admission to pursue postgraduate programmes under the Centre, that school has officially re-opened. M.Sc students, either local or international  are to report during the week of 15th - 19th August 2016 for registration. There would be orientation for all M.Sc students on Friday, 19th August 2016 at 11:00 am at LT, College of Engineering. Lectures begin on Monday, 22nd August 2016. All students are expected to attend in person.

The Centre in collaboration with WEDC – Loughborough University successfully run a five (5) day course on borehole drilling and construction from 18th to 22nd July. Up to fifty (50) participants from the WaSH sector, NGO’s and private companies were present. The course was delivered by Mr. Steve Schneider, Mrs. Miriam Schneider (USA), Dr. Bukari Ali, Dr. Emmanuel Appiah-Adjei and Mr. Gordon Foli (KNUST). The course blended theoretical approaches as well as field exercises. Participants received certificates after successfully completing the course.

A team from the Centre visited the offices of Witteveen Bos to have discussions with the Flood Risk Project Team from TU Delft, Netherlands. The meeting created an environment to learn and share ideas on the ongoing Flood Risk Project and also to outdoor the Centre for future collaboration in research, internship and student exchange among others

The official launching and consultative meeting was held to bring together national and regional partners to exchange ideas on developmental issues in water resources, climate change, flooding, water supply, faecal sludge and solid waste management relevant to the sub-region. The meeting was held over three (3) days.
